Genesis Health Clubs – Clayview: Summer Pool Manager

Manages all coordination of pool personnel and pool activities.  Supervises safe, clean and appealing club swimming facilities.  

Duties/Responsibilities:   

• Supervise lifeguards, pool members, pool parties, and other activities. 

• Plan 3-4 large social events/parties between May 28 and August 20, coordinate smaller, pop-up type events to enhance membership experience.

• Direct cleaning of the pool and upkeep of all pool equipment and facilities, pool chairs, diving boards, showers, locker rooms and pool office. 

• Keep the pool, pool deck, and auxiliary buildings/areas clean and free of litter and debris.

• Oversee all pool operations and personnel and coordinate any pool activity during or after official Club hours. 

• Help monitor guest traffic, create a fun, safe, and welcoming environment to turn guests into members.

• Provide necessary orientation and training for staff. 

• Enforce club rules of safety and conduct. 

• Be constructive in discipline, helpful in criticism, and enthusiastic in compliments. 

• Assist Maintenance staff in maintaining and keeping all necessary records concerning pool attendance, pool chemicals, accident reports, schedules, timecards, etc. 

• Perform other duties as prescribed by management.  

Qualifications/Requirements:   Must be certified lifeguard and certified in first aid and lifesaving courses.  May be expected to have passed certain local first aid and swimming requirements.  Working knowledge of pool design and maintenance details.  Must be able to plan, promote, and follow through with programs, and be able to test pool attendants for competence.  Good communication and people skills required.    

Knowledge of: Philosophy, principles, and practices of public aquatic and related recreation programs; pool activities suitable for children, adults, disabled, and senior citizens; routine swimming pool maintenance, chlorinators, heaters, and other equipment used in a pool facility; basic pool chemistry, including chemicals used to disinfect water and maintain proper PH in a public pool; practices and principles of first aid and CPR lifesaving safety measures at a public pool; health and safety codes applicable to the operation of a public pool; practices of training and supervision; principles and practices of customer service; modern office equipment, methods, procedures; computer hardware and software; report writing techniques.  

Ability to: Supervise a variety of aquatic programs; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; supervise and instruct individuals and groups in aquatic and related recreation activities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; interpret community demand for aquatic programs; successfully resolve a variety of customer service related matters; respond to emergency situations in a calm and effective manner; administer first aid and CPR; work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
